WHY WATER TREATMENT REQUIRES
Water is nature’s best and most available source of heat transfer for cooling systems and boilers. Whether of drinking quality or not, any water will produce scales and corrosion in cooling systems and steam processing units unless properly treated to prevent harmful effects of the feed water.
SCALE & HARMFUL EFFECTS
Water contains considerable amounts of scale forming constituents , for e.g., Calcium and Magnesium carbonates, sulphates, Magnesium hydroxide, Silica etc. The scale deposit on metal parts and inside pipeline of heat exchangers, evaporators,boilers, compressors, solar heaters, Generators, AC units and water cooling circuits.
The adherent scales impede heat transfer capacity of the unit (Heat Conduction Capacity of hard water scale is only 3.8 % of Steel). Thus, requiring 12 % more fuel(through 1/16” scale in boiler) to achieve the same heat transfer. In practice,thickness of the scale may be much higher. In a similar way, scales work as insulation for heat transfer in exchangers, compressors and generators which result in energy loss and higher pressure attack, metal failure at hot spots and reduction in the capacity of heat transfer tubes.
WATER TREATMENT SOLUTIONS
The loss of energy, downtime of various equipments and replacement of expensive tubes and components can be prevented by periodic scale cleaning. Mechanical removal of scales involving inaccessible areas of the assembled unit is difficult.Chemical cleaning is more efficient in these positions.
In addition to scale cleaning, number of Water Treatment compounds have been formulated to prevent scaling, corrosion and Algae that will keep the equipment clean and efficient for period of usage.
